Socialite Rahman Jago has confirmed that Grammy-winning Nigerian star Burna Boy has converted to Islam.
Burna Boy, who was raised in a Christian home, first sparked conversations about his faith a few weeks ago during a podcast interview where he revealed that he had embraced Islam “at some point” in his personal search for truth. His comment quickly fueled widespread speculation, as he did not clearly state his current religious standing at the time.
Recently, Rahman Jago appeared to put the rumours to rest. He shared a video on his X (formerly Twitter) page showing Burna Boy praising Allah alongside him and a group of men in what looked like a bar setting. Jago captioned the clip, “Allahu Akbar.”
The video was later reposted by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. Ahmad noted that the singer appeared joyful and prayed that Allah would make his journey in Islam easy.
In the comment section, a fan asked Ahmad whether Burna Boy had truly converted. He responded that some of the singer’s close associates had confirmed the conversion, although the artiste himself had not publicly made a formal announcement.
Rahman Jago then directly addressed the question by quoting the fan’s inquiry and affirming the claim.
“He converted. He is now a Muslim,” Jago wrote.
