Media personality Daddy Freeze has cautioned married Nigerians over the age of 40 against relocating abroad in search of better opportunities, urging them to carefully weigh the risks before making such a life-changing decision.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, he advised couples in that age group to reconsider plans to move to countries like the United States and the United Kingdom for now.

“One is, the suffering in Nigeria is unbearable or the enjoyment promised abroad is much more than anything you can have here,” he said. “Avoid America and avoid the UK for now. If you are married, avoid relocating for now.”

Immigration Challenges and Marital Strain

Daddy Freeze explained that his warning is largely based on immigration realities. According to him, evolving policies can create unexpected hurdles, even for couples who give birth abroad, as citizenship and residency processes are not always straightforward.

He further alleged that in some cases, couples resort to drastic measures to secure residency, including divorcing and remarrying each other — or other partners — purely for immigration documentation.

“What couples now do is divorce each other and get married to other partners for papers, especially in the UK and US, except one of them is a citizen. How many marriages can survive a divorce and remarriage of the same couple?” he questioned.

Mixed Reactions Online

His remarks have sparked debate on social media. While some agreed that life abroad can be more challenging than it appears, others argued that relocation may still offer long-term benefits depending on individual circumstances.

Daddy Freeze’s comments have reignited conversations about the emotional, legal, and financial implications of pursuing residency abroad later in life — and whether the pursuit of greener pastures is always worth the cost.
