In a confidential memo dated October 20, 2025, and addressed to the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, the DSS warned that intelligence reports had confirmed plans by ISWAP operatives to launch simultaneous assaults on selected locations in the two states.

According to the document, the identified targets in Ondo State include Eriti Akoko and Oyin Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area, as well as Owo town in Owo Local Government Area.

The report further disclosed that the terrorist group had already begun surveillance operations on potential soft targets in these areas.

The DSS therefore urged security agencies to heighten vigilance and reinforce security measures across the affected communities to prevent any attacks.

“The groups have commenced surveillance on potential soft targets in the above mentioned locations. Consequently, there is need to scale up the level of security alertness in the various communities to forestall any untoward situation.

“While above is for your information and further action, accept assurances of the highest regards of the State Director of Security, please,” the memo stated.

The warning was signed by H.I. Kana J, on behalf of the State Director of Security, Ondo State, and copied to relevant military and security formations for immediate action.

The latest alert comes amid renewed concerns over terrorist activities spreading beyond the North-East into parts of the South-West and North-Central regions.
