A2zgist learnt that the defendants will be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The Nigeria Police Force has filed an 11-count criminal charge against popular TikToker, Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed (Major), and four others over alleged cyberstalking and defamation of Senator Shehu Baba Umar Buba, the lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District.

A2zgist learnt that the defendants will be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

According to a copy of the charge obtained by A2zgist, the five defendants, identified as Ahmed Abdulrahman (41), Daure David (35), Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed (25), Abdulrashid Abdullahi Musa (30), and Nasir Usman Abubakar (21), are accused of conspiring “to commit an offence, to wit; cyberstalking against Senator Shehu Baba Umar,” contrary to Section 27(1)(b) and punishable under Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended) 2024.

The suspects will be arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, October 23, 2025, under Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/526/2025.

One of the charges reads that Ahmed Abdulrahman, using his Facebook page “Barr Kibanna & Kibanna”, allegedly posted that “one Senator Shehu Baba Umar, a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a sponsor of banditry and further called for his investigation.”

The police allege that the message was transmitted “by means of a computer system or network knowing same to be false, for the purpose of causing breakdown of law and order.”

In another count, the police claim that the same defendant, through his TikTok handle “Kibanna Channel” and YouTube channel, “stated that Senator Shehu Baba Umar… is sponsoring banditry and posing a threat to national security,” with intent “to threaten and harm the reputation of Senator Shehu Baba Umar and accuse the said senator of a crime.”

Similarly, Count 5 accuses him of making the same allegation “knowing same to be false with intent to bully and harass the person of the said Senator Shehu Umar which communication placed him in fear of death, violence and harm to himself and other family members.”

Another defendant, Daure David, is accused of publishing similar allegations on the online platform 247 Reports, “stating that one Senator Shehu Umar… is a sponsor of banditry, a threat to national security,” which the charge says was done “with intent of causing breakdown of law and order.”

The charge further alleges that David also “attempted to obtain the sum of N5 million by false pretence from one Senator Shehu Baba Umar… by falsely telling him that the said N5 million will be used to pay off people who intended to protest against him.”

Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed, described as the publisher of Uncountable Newspaper, is also accused of posting that “one Senator Shehu Baba Umar, a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is sponsoring bandits in the Northern Nigeria,” an act police say was done “knowing same to be false and with intent of causing breakdown of law and order.”

Likewise, Abdulrashid Abdullahi Musa, a resident of Kano, is charged with making a similar publication in Vanguard Hausa in which he “stated that one Senator Shehu Baba Umar… is a sponsor of banditry and further called for his investigation.”

The final count accuses Nasir Usman Abubakar of posting on his Facebook page “a publication… knowing same to be false and with the intent of causing breakdown of law and order.”

The charges were signed on October 3, 2025, by Anthony A. Egwu, F.G. Gabriel, and Victor I. Okoye, all of the Legal/Prosecution Section, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

This development comes weeks after SaharaReporters earlier reported that Ishaq Abubakar, one of the accused persons, was released from police custody after being arrested over his viral TikTok videos accusing Senator Buba of alleged links with bandit groups terrorising the North.

Sources confirmed at the time that his release followed the intervention of pro-democracy activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

Abubakar, in the said videos, had referenced SaharaReporters’ past reports exposing Senator Buba’s alleged peace pact with terror kingpin Bello Turji, as well as the controversies surrounding the senator’s demolition of a church in Jos to construct a mosque linked to the Izala sect.
