A Nigerian woman has shared a touching story on social media about how simple acts of responsibility and consistency helped strengthen her marriage.
According to her, she used to stop cooking whenever she and her husband argued, leaving him to fend for himself. Despite her actions, he consistently sent her allowance, food money, and even funds he had promised her father.
“Then one month, we had another fight… and as usual, I didn’t cook. The month ended, and he still sent my allowance… plus the full foodstuff money like he always does. He even sent the money he had promised my dad. I was surprised. I asked him why he would still send food money when I hadn’t been cooking. He simply said, ‘Because it’s my responsibility.’”
The experience made her rethink her approach to disagreements. She now continues to cook even when upset, noting that the small gesture has improved communication and reduced the frequency of quarrels.
“Now, even when I’m upset, I still cook for him. And I’ve noticed something… most of our quarrels don’t even last anymore. Somehow, we always end up talking things out while eating. Small things like this save marriages.”
Her story has resonated widely, highlighting how patience, consistency, and small gestures can make a big difference in relationships.
