Controversial businessman Isaac Fayose has criticised prominent Igbo elites, accusing them of engaging in selective negotiations and pursuing selfish interests within Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a video that has since gone viral, Fayose referenced the return of Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho to Nigeria, drawing a contrast with the life imprisonment sentence handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

He questioned why political influence could not be leveraged to secure the release of detained agitators.
According to him, many leaders appear to place personal interests above the collective good.
He mentioned socialites Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest while criticising what he described as a lack of strategic political engagement.
“We have activists in Nigeria. We have a guy called Sunday Igboho — he’s back home now, they even want to give him a chieftaincy title. We have Nnamdi Kanu — where is he? He’s in detention. And your brothers are holding mandates but cannot use political power to negotiate and bring their brother out,” Fayose said.
He argued that individuals with access to political influence should deploy it more strategically, rather than focusing primarily on personal enrichment.
Fayose also touched on broader concerns about insecurity across parts of the country, referencing banditry and controversial cleric Sheikh Gumi in his remarks.
According to him, transparency and selflessness are largely missing from Nigeria’s political space.
“I didn’t say you should fight, but you are in the corridor of power. You give me this, I wear your cap, you release my brother. Everybody is negotiating for their pocket. The moment we decide to be selfless, we’ll be able to help each other,” he added.

“My wife is Igbo, so I’m partly Igbo. Igbos are the most greedy Nigerians. Sunday Igboho is at home. Sheik Gumi supports Fulani herdsmen. Nnamdi Kanu is in prison but Obi Cubana is wearing Tinubu cap instead of telling FG to release NK.” -Isaac Fayose.
