Nigerian businessman and industrialist Cosmas Maduka has responded strongly to nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, following remarks that compared him to some of Nigeria’s wealthiest billionaires. Recall that months ago, the pair clashed over the controversial “Money na water” comment.

Reacting in a recent video, Maduka dismissed what he described as “noise making with empty pocket,” stressing that he would never place himself in the same category as business heavyweights like Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote.

Reflecting on his journey, Maduka said he rose from humble beginnings with only a third-grade education. He described himself as a “street boy” who worked his way up from nothing to serve on the boards of two publicly quoted banks in Nigeria, including chairing a credit committee.

He added that he was invited by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna and now conducts business across five continents.

Maduka also revealed that in 2011, he set a personal goal to mentor and raise 1,000 billionaires in Nigeria. According to him, he has so far mentored 67 individuals who have gone on to attain billionaire status.

In his words:

“Noise making with empty pocket is a new currency. That’s what that means. He took me on and started saying I should never equate myself with Femi Otedola and the rest. I will never equate myself with Aliko and the rest of them. If they came from where I was coming from, they would have been much more successful people.

“Don’t measure me with someone whose father gave him the opportunity to go to school and earn a BSc or MSc. I am a street boy who started from ground zero and worked my way up to sit on the boards of two publicly quoted banks in Nigeria and chair a credit committee.

“With my third-grade education, I was invited by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna. I also do business across five continents of the world.

“In 2011, God put it in my heart to go out there and create 1,000 billionaires in Nigeria. Today, I can count 67 people I have mentored who have become billionaires.”
