Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the South-South to strengthen cooperation and work together as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the APC South-South Zonal Congress held in Asaba, Delta State, Fubara emphasized that unity among party members is essential for the party to achieve its goals in the region. He stressed that coordinated efforts and a shared commitment would allow the APC to perform effectively in future elections.

“We can only achieve our objectives if we stand together,” Fubara said. “The responsibility before those elected today will be demanding, but I am confident they will rise to the challenge and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our party.”
The governor also expressed optimism about the newly elected zonal leadership, noting that their emergence reflects the region’s potential to strengthen the APC’s influence. He commended Delta State for hosting the congress and encouraged leaders to focus on collaboration rather than personal interests.

The event drew top APC figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and governors from the region such as Douye Diri, Monday Okpebholo, Umo Eno, Bassey Otu, and Sheriff Oborevwori. Lawmakers from the National and State Assemblies in the South-South also participated, highlighting the importance of the gathering.
The congress concluded with a consensus-based re-election of zonal leaders, a process widely seen as a demonstration of solidarity and commitment to party unity. Observers note that Fubara’s call for cohesion signals a strategic effort to consolidate the APC’s position in the South-South ahead of 2027.
