Nollywood actor and producer Olaide Olabanji has opened up about his fallout with actress Mercy Aigbe, claiming that the star turned against him after he helped her break into the film industry.
Speaking during a candid interview, Olabanji revealed that he first noticed Aigbe in 2004 while she was in a shop and asked if she could act. When she agreed, he introduced her to Nollywood, giving her the opportunity that eventually propelled her to stardom.
But according to Olabanji, things took a sour turn as Aigbe’s career took off. He alleges that she became distant, unapproachable, and eventually blocked him on social media, leaving him feeling betrayed.

He said:
“I brought Mercy Aigbe into the movie industry. I saw her in a shop in 2004 and asked her if she could act. She said yes, and I put her on. But now she is blocking me. To her, it is as if I should no longer exist.”
Olabanji described their interactions as tense whenever they cross paths, adding that he feels her resentment has grown to the point where she allegedly wishes him harm.
The actor expressed his disappointment, saying that someone he once supported had repaid his kindness with what he calls “wickedness.”

This revelation has already stirred reactions across social media, with fans and Nollywood watchers weighing in on mentorship, loyalty, and fame in the Nigerian film industry.
