A former student of Abia State University has sparked serious conversation online after sharing her experience with alleged misconduct by a lecturer during her undergraduate years.

According to her account, the incident happened in her 200 level after she performed relatively well in a departmental test. She was invited to the lecturer’s office, where the conversation reportedly took an unexpected turn.

What began as praise for her performance allegedly shifted into uncomfortable advances, with subtle suggestions that her academic success could be influenced by her response.

“He asked if I didn’t want an A… but I told him I would earn it the right way,” she recounted.

She claimed that after refusing, the lecturer warned her of consequences — a threat she initially didn’t take seriously.

However, when results were released, she said she was the only student who ended up carrying over the course.

The experience, she explained, left her emotionally shaken but firm in her decision not to compromise her values.

Her story has reignited discussions about power dynamics in higher institutions and the need for safer reporting systems for students facing harassment.

While cases like this are often whispered about, many believe more people speaking out could help push for accountability and change.
