A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions online after accusing community leaders of sidelining her family in a high-value land transaction involving hundreds of millions of naira.
In a viral video, she alleged that a company paid ₦725 million for a piece of land in her community, but despite her mother reportedly owning a 75 percent stake, the family was excluded from key discussions surrounding the deal.
Dispute Over Payment Share
According to her account, the situation became more troubling when the family was later informed that her mother’s share amounted to just ₦11 million — a figure she described as deeply unfair and difficult to comprehend given the scale of the transaction.
She insisted that the family was neither consulted nor properly informed throughout the negotiation process, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
Fears for Community Livelihood
Beyond her family’s situation, she also drew attention to the potential impact on other residents in the area. She explained that many people in the community rely on small-scale activities such as fishing, firewood trading, and other informal jobs to survive.
According to her, any displacement without proper planning or compensation could leave many families stranded with no clear means of livelihood.
Frustration With Leadership Response
The woman further alleged that attempts to seek clarification from community authorities yielded no meaningful response. After rejecting the ₦11 million offer, she claimed she was dismissed and told to pursue the matter in court.
The response, she said, left her questioning the role of community leadership and whether residents are being treated fairly.
Demand for Justice
Despite the pushback, she maintained that her actions are not driven by confrontation but by a desire for fairness and accountability.
“I will keep speaking the truth about what is happening with my mother’s property,” she said in the video, calling for a proper investigation into the transaction.
The situation has since fueled debate online, with many Nigerians calling for transparency in community land dealings and protection for rightful landowners.
