- Davido, a prominent Afrobeats artist, expressed that the Nigerian music scene would be less exciting without him.
- He shared his opinion on X, stating that the absence of his music would make things “boring AF.”
- His comment generated mixed reactions from fans; some praised his confidence while others felt he was exaggerating his impact.

This isn’t the first time Davido has positioned himself as central to the Nigerian music industry. In an April 2025 interview with Apple Music, he recounted how the industry seemed to pause when he stepped away from social media in November 2022, following the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke. According to him, both fans and critics were eager for his return during his three-month hiatus.
Davido first gained widespread attention in 2011 with the release of his hit track “Dami Duro,” emerging alongside a wave of young Afrobeats talents, including Wizkid.
However, not everyone agrees with his view of the industry. Veteran producer Samkleff recently suggested that Davido’s arrival introduced rivalry and tension among artists. He noted that before Davido rose to fame, there was a sense of mutual respect within the Nigerian music community.
