Victor Osimhen has revealed that he once came close to joining Juventus FC before eventually completing a permanent move to Galatasaray S.K..

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-off clash, the Nigerian striker confirmed that Juventus made a serious attempt to sign him during his time at SSC Napoli.

“I could have joined Juventus, yes. Juve wanted to sign me but Napoli president De Laurentiis didn’t want to sell me to Juventus,” Osimhen said. “For sure, Juventus are a top club. When Juventus call you, you listen.”

Victor Osimhen reveals he almost joined Juventus ahead of their Champions League clash against Galatasaray

Osimhen sealed his permanent switch to Galatasaray last summer after a successful loan spell and has continued his impressive scoring run. So far this season, he has registered 15 goals and three assists in 22 appearances.

His impact has also been felt on the European stage. The 27-year-old has scored six goals in six Champions League matches and is now closing in on the club’s single-season record of eight goals in the competition.

“I am at a club and in a city I absolutely love. I’ve been lucky to find Galatasaray. There’s nothing like Gala and the love from the fans,” he added.

Focus on European Ambitions

After helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup titles in his first campaign, Osimhen says the team’s focus has shifted to making a statement in Europe.

“We did great in Turkey. Now it’s time to show our quality in Europe,” he said.

Galatasaray will host Juventus at RAMS Park in the first leg, with the return fixture set to take place in Turin next week.

The encounter offers Osimhen an immediate opportunity to face the club he nearly joined — with a place in the Champions League round of 16 on the line.
