Nigerian content creator Kuye Adegoke, widely known as Egungun of Lagos, has spoken out after facing backlash over his brief interaction with American streamer IShowSpeed during the latter’s visit to Lagos.

A clip from the encounter, filmed on January 22, 2026, went viral online. It captured Egungun trying to speak with the 21-year-old streamer, Darren Watkins Jr., amid a noisy public appearance that attracted a large and excited crowd.

In the video, Egungun asks about Speed’s age and appears visibly shocked when the streamer reveals he is 21, remarking on his strong and healthy appearance. The short exchange, which seemed tense, quickly sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms.

Responding to the criticism, Egungun later addressed the situation on his social media page, explaining that the environment was far more intense than it appeared on screen.

According to him, the overwhelming crowd and heavy security presence around IShowSpeed made it extremely difficult to have a smooth or meaningful conversation. He described the moment as highly pressured, saying, “No vex for me, it was tension.”

Egungun added that with the streamer drawing massive attention across Lagos, getting a calm, uninterrupted interview was almost impossible under the circumstances.
