A Northern Islamic scholar has sparked political debate after warning that growing dissatisfaction with the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu could reshape voting patterns in the region.
Speaking during a public discussion on governance and national unity, the cleric suggested that many northern voters may shift their support to Peter Obi if current conditions persist.
His comments come amid rising concerns over economic hardship, insecurity, and what some describe as a shrinking space for opposition voices.
“If President Tinubu continues to frustrate Nigerians and the opposition, northerners will massively vote for Peter Obi,” he stated.
According to the scholar, the warning reflects a broader mood among citizens struggling with the realities of rising living costs and limited economic opportunities.
He also pointed to Nigeria’s political history, noting that similar dissatisfaction played a role in the major leadership shift witnessed during the 2015 general elections.
With political conversations already gaining momentum ahead of future polls, his remarks have added to growing discussions about voter sentiment, regional dynamics, and the potential for another significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape.
