Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has taken to social media to vent about an unusual but relatable problem—a rooster that ruined his sleep during a recent stay in Owerri.
According to him, he was lodged in a backyard room with a view of fish ponds. While the scenery was pleasant, his peace was shattered by the relentless crowing of a male chicken that began as early as 3 a.m.
“I went to Owerri for an event, and my host lodged me in a room at the backyard. From the window, I can see fish ponds everywhere, but that’s not even my issue. My problem is this male chicken that has been crowing since 3 a.m., disturbing my sleep,” he said.
Determined to get a good night’s rest, the entertainer offered a reward to anyone who could handle the noisy bird.
“I’m ready to pay ₦20k to anyone who can deal with that particular chicken,” he joked.
Taking the situation further, Speed humorously mentioned that he could even go to court over the matter with a reward of ₦200k for a solution, adding that a young man working there could “volunteer to poison the chicken” and receive ₦50k.
His lighthearted complaint quickly drew reactions online, with fans sharing laughs and relating to the challenges of unexpected animal disturbances. The story also sparked conversations about balancing traditional rural settings with modern comfort expectations, particularly for visitors unaccustomed to early-morning farm noises.
