Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized President Bola Tinubu over the planned implementation of Nigeria’s new TAX Reform Act from January 1, despite ongoing legal and political disputes.

Adeyanju faulted the President’s decision to proceed with the law, saying unresolved allegations surrounding its passage raise serious constitutional and governance concerns.

Concerns over alleged forgery and process breaches

The lawyer described the enforcement of the tax law amid claims of forgery and procedural violations as a direct attack on Nigeria’s legal system.

According to Adeyanju, pushing ahead with the policy without resolving the controversies undermines public trust in democratic institutions and the rule of law.

He also referenced claims that multiple versions of the Tax Reform Act exist within government circles.
