A Nigerian pastor has set social media buzzing after calling out men who deliberately put women through financial hardship in the name of “testing love.”

In a viral message that has sparked heated debates, the clergyman didn’t hold back as he questioned the logic behind expecting loyalty while offering little or nothing in return.

“Who Are You Testing?”

According to him, the idea of testing a woman’s love by struggling on purpose is not only unrealistic—it’s unfair.

“I want a woman that will love me for who I am. Who are you?”

He went further, mocking the extreme lengths some men go to:

“Imagine me looking for somebody to marry, I’m testing her with three cups of rice. Are we travelling back to yesterday?”

“₦10k Can’t Sustain Anybody”

The pastor made it clear that love should not be measured by how much suffering a woman can endure.

“You’re saying she doesn’t love you, yet you gave her ₦10k two weeks ago. What can ₦10k do?”

Driving his point home, he stressed that relationships require responsibility, not experiments.

“We give you 50 million, go and do business. Don’t test a woman with poverty… It takes money to produce honey.”

Internet Divided

His statement has since ignited strong reactions online. While many agreed with him—arguing that some men hide behind “loyalty tests” to excuse lack of financial responsibility—others pushed back, insisting that genuine love shouldn’t be tied to money.

Still, one thing is clear: the conversation has touched a nerve.

Because in today’s reality, many are asking the same question—

is love truly about endurance… or responsibility?
