According to accounts from residents, the issue had been building over time. The husband had reportedly expressed discomfort with his wife’s habit of stepping out of their apartment wearing a wrapper, advising her to dress more “appropriately” as a married woman.
Tension escalated when the woman went to a neighbour’s apartment to charge her phone. On her way back, she reportedly ran into her husband, who had just returned from his night shift.
Witnesses say the situation took a dramatic turn when the husband entered their apartment and locked the door, leaving his wife stranded outside for hours.

The matter later drew the involvement of the woman’s family, who were invited to help mediate the dispute. During the intervention, the husband allegedly accused another man in the compound of showing interest in his wife, claiming her manner of dressing contributed to his suspicions.
