Nkechi Blessing Sunday has sparked widespread reactions online after speaking out about body shaming and cosmetic surgery.
In a video shared on social media, the Nollywood star accused some men of hypocrisy when it comes to conversations about body positivity. According to her, many women are now being told to “love themselves the way they are” after years of being mocked and criticised over their appearance.
Speaking candidly in the video, Nkechi Blessing said constant insults and pressure — especially on social media — have pushed many women to consider cosmetic procedures in order to meet society’s expectations.
She argued that the same people who once ridiculed women’s bodies are now the ones preaching self-acceptance.
According to the actress, this double standard has contributed to the growing number of women opting for body enhancement surgeries.
She also maintained that personal choices about one’s body should be respected, noting that harsh comments and online bullying have played a significant role in influencing some women’s decisions to alter their appearance.
Nkechi Blessing further stated that she would not allow criticism or online abuse to pressure her into changing her body.
The actress said she is proud of her physique and believes it reflects the effort and hard work she has put into maintaining it.
While acknowledging that every woman has the right to make her own decisions about her body, she revealed that the only procedure she might consider in the future is weight-loss surgery.
However, she emphasised that enhancement procedures — particularly Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) — are not something she plans to undergo.
