The Dapo Abiodun-led Ogun State government has spent N2.3 billion on refreshments and honorarium within nine months, an A2zgist’ review of the state’s third-quarter 2025 budget performance document has shown.

This development comes amid growing public complaints about the poor state of roads and other social amenities across the state.
Just days before this report, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ota Branch staged a peaceful protest over the deplorable condition of roads in Ogun State.
The protest, held on last Saturday, was led by the branch chairman, Chief K. K. Ajose, and marked the kickoff of Day 2 of the Utter Bar Law Week.
A2zgist gathered that the protesters marched through major streets of Ota, carrying placards with messages such as “Good roads are a right, not a privilege! Fix Ota roads now,” “Governor Dapo Abiodun please! Fix our roads,” and “When justice gets stuck in the traffic the people suffer. Fix our roads.”
Chief Ajose described the protest as a “clarion call” for urgent government action, noting that the poor road conditions have caused untold hardship, leading to lost man-hours, economic stagnation, and increased criminal activities.
“The essence of governance is to ensure the welfare and security of the people,” Ajose said. “The roads are in total disrepair, endangering lives, damaging vehicles, and crippling business activities daily. It has become a nightmare for everyone.”
The NBA Ota Branch had vowed to continue using lawful means to ensure the voices of Ado-Odo Ota residents are heard until the roads are fixed.
