Nigerian social media star Peller is once again making headlines—this time for a controversial remark about Yoruba people that has sparked strong reactions online.

During a recent live session, Peller, who identifies as Yoruba, said that some Yoruba individuals ask for money in a way that is “premium and threatening,” claiming they often make bold financial demands without hesitation. According to him, these requests can sometimes involve large sums, including amounts as high as one million naira or more.

The comment quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions. While some viewers took it humorously, seeing it as a personal observation, many others accused Peller of stereotyping and disrespecting his own ethnic group. Critics argued that even if intended as a joke, such statements can reinforce negative stereotypes and fuel unnecessary divisions.

On the other hand, a few supporters defended him, suggesting that his words were taken out of context and not meant as an attack.

This incident highlights a growing trend where influencers face backlash for remarks considered tribalistic or insensitive. As of now, Peller has not issued any formal clarification or apology, leaving the conversation and controversy ongoing.
