Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, has alleged that the Federal Government of Nigeria excluded his state from receiving palliative support introduced after the removal of fuel subsidy.
In a video currently circulating online, Lawal claimed that Zamfara has not received any of the federal funds meant to cushion the impact of rising living costs following the subsidy removal.

He suggested that the alleged exclusion may be politically motivated, noting that he is not a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the governor, some states governed by the APC have reportedly received substantial financial assistance to help residents cope with the economic reforms.
“I know of states that have received over ₦500 billion from the Federal Government as palliative, but I have never received anything,” he said. “I think the reason I don’t get it is because I’m not in APC.”
Lawal added that despite significant economic and security challenges, Zamfara has had to rely solely on its internally generated resources to implement food distribution and welfare programmes.
He stressed that federal palliative measures should be distributed fairly and without regard to political affiliation, arguing that citizens should not suffer the consequences of partisan differences.
The Federal Government has yet to publicly respond to the governor’s claims.
“Some Governors who joined the APC received over 500 billion Naira from the Federal Government as palliative, but I haven’t received a dime because I haven’t joined the APC.” -Zamfara Governor, Dauda Lawal.
Just look at this nationwide madness by APC.
