Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has claimed he has already received ₦40 million from the organisers of his proposed celebrity boxing match with comedian and content creator Carter Efe.

It would be recalled that music executive Soso Soberekon previously pledged ₦50 million to facilitate the bout between both entertainers. At the time, Portable dismissed the offer as insufficient, insisting he would only step into the ring if the financial stakes were increased.

Portable: “I’ve received ₦40 million already”

In a recent statement, Portable alleged that Soso Soberekon offered him ₦50 million for the fight. He further claimed that businessman E-Money pledged an additional ₦50 million plus a car if he defeats Carter Efe.

In his words:

“I’ve already received ₦40 million from the organisers of my fight with Carter Efe. Soso Soberekon offered me ₦50 million, and E-Money offered ₦50 million plus a car if I beat him.”

Mixed Reactions Online

The development has triggered varied reactions on social media.

@JoyceOscar3 wrote:

“This is exactly the kind of distraction we don’t need… Chasing clout with money and gifts while our nation faces serious challenges is reckless. We should focus on the real issues affecting us all.”

@Pal_Acad commented:

“Portable is definitely turning this fight into a massive payday. Getting ₦50 million upfront while bagging offers from Soso Soberekon and E-Money is peak hustle. I think this showdown with Carter Efe is more about the cash than the boxing. If he wins, the money and that new car will make sense. Portable always knows how to stay in the spotlight!”

@de_generalnoni added:

“He will beat Carter… Carter better tell him to take it easy on him!”

As anticipation builds, fans continue to debate whether the much-talked-about clash will materialise — and whether it’s truly about boxing or the business behind it.
