Nigeria international Sadiq Umar opened his La Liga account for the season as Valencia CF claimed a 2–0 derby win over Levante UD on Sunday.
The striker, who completed a permanent move from Real Sociedad in January, came off the bench in the 58th minute and put the result beyond doubt late on, sealing a crucial three points for his side.
The first half was tightly contested, with few clear-cut chances and just one shot on target between both teams. Valencia eventually broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Largie Ramazani capped off a swift counter-attack with a superb volley into the top corner.
Umar doubled the lead 20 minutes later. The Nigerian forward dispossessed a Levante defender in midfield, surged forward with purpose, and calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to finish another quick transition move.
The goal wrapped up the derby and marked Umar’s fourth strike in all competitions this season — and his second in three matches — as he continues to rediscover his form.

Levante’s frustrations worsened in the closing stages when midfielder Kervin Arriaga was sent off. After being shown a yellow card for a foul, he applauded the referee sarcastically and received a second booking for dissent.
The victory lifts Valencia to 14th place in the La Liga standings with 26 points, two points clear of the relegation zone. Levante remain 19th with 18 points from 23 matches.
Valencia will next travel to face Villarreal CF on Sunday, with Umar hoping to build on his growing momentum.
