Billionaire’s son Wahab Okoya has sparked debate on social media after claiming that Nigeria is better today than it was three years ago, arguing that the government is not receiving enough credit for visible improvements.
Okoya made the remark during a public conversation, noting that the changes are especially noticeable to Nigerians who studied abroad and later returned home.
According to him, the differences in infrastructure, lifestyle, and the general environment are striking compared to previous years.
“If you compare Nigeria today to Nigeria three years ago, we are getting better,” Okoya said. “For those of us who went to school abroad and came back, the change is very visible. We are not giving the government enough credit.”
His comments, however, quickly drew mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians pushing back against his assessment. Critics argue that economic hardship, rising costs of living, and insecurity continue to define daily life for the majority of citizens.
