An NYSC official has grabbed attention with some no-nonsense advice for male corps members struggling with silent crushes at orientation camp. Instead of spending money on food and gifts to win over female colleagues, she told them to be direct and honest about their feelings.

“You like a female corper? Stop buying food and gifts without saying a word. Open your mouth and speak! Why waste money and energy hoping she’ll notice?” she said.

The official explained that trying to impress someone silently often leads to confusion, wasted resources, and unnecessary stress. A simple, honest approach, she said, is far more effective.

“Just say, ‘Hello, I like you. Do you feel the same?’ If she says she needs time or isn’t interested, accept it and move on,” she advised, stressing that clarity benefits both parties.

Her advice quickly sparked online conversations. One user joked, “Na real talk, this economy no fit carry silent love again 😭” while another noted, “Some men dey do girlfriend duties for person wey no even send them.”

In a setting where everyone is navigating new friendships, career beginnings, and personal connections, the official’s message was simple: honesty is cheaper and far less stressful than trying to buy someone’s attention.
