A man has sparked intense reactions online after sharing a controversial opinion about women who still live with their parents at the age of 25, using his own dating experience to support his view.

According to him, he met a woman early last year, and they dated briefly for about four weeks. He said the relationship started on a positive note, with genuine mutual interest and effort on his part to make things work.

The relationship and growing frustrations

“I met this girl early last year, and we dated for about four weeks. We genuinely liked each other. I treated her well—I took her to nice restaurants, we went on several dates, and I spent a lot of money on her,” he said.

However, he explained that problems began to surface when the woman repeatedly blamed her strict upbringing for the limitations in their relationship. Despite being an adult, she insisted she still had a curfew and limited freedom because she lived with her parents, which he said became a source of growing frustration for him.

Birthday plans and the breaking point

The situation reportedly came to a head on her birthday, which he described as the moment that finally ended the relationship. He said he struggled to understand why a grown woman would still be so heavily controlled by her parents.

“The final straw was her birthday. I spent over ₦600,000 on gifts and plans just to make her feel special. I even booked an apartment as a surprise. But when I called her that day, she told me her parents didn’t allow her to come out, so she couldn’t make it. All my plans, money, and effort went to waste,” he said.

Out of frustration, the man admitted that he gave the expensive gift baskets to another woman he was casually seeing at the time.

After that incident, communication between him and the first woman completely broke down. He explained that he could not wrap his head around why an adult woman was still under such strict parental control and concluded that it was not a situation he could continue with.
