Nigerians have been left confused after the management of controversial influencer VeryDarkMan announced his alleged demise—coming shortly after similar claims were made about philanthropist King Mitchy.

The two content creators had been locked in a heated online feud over NGO funds reportedly donated by Nigerians. King Mitchy had publicly accused VeryDarkMan of withholding the funds without putting them to visible use.

Amid their ongoing dispute, King Mitchy’s management announced that she had passed away after allegedly consuming a harmful substance during a livestream. The shocking claim triggered widespread reactions across social media, with many expressing concern and demanding clarity.

However, in a surprising twist, VeryDarkMan’s team soon followed with a similar announcement, stating that he too had passed on. The post featured an image of a coffin alongside a plaque displaying the number of years he allegedly lived.

It was captioned:
“Breaking news. VDM is D3@d.”

Social media reactions

The back-to-back announcements have sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians unsure of what to believe. While some expressed sympathy, others questioned the authenticity of the claims and criticized what they described as attention-seeking behavior.

One user, @AsidanyaMiracle, wrote:
“Let them keep using us to play in this country. They both deserve jail time for causing public nuisance and disturbing the peace of the people and for fake suicide attempt.”

Another user, @Mlghtytrader, questioned the circumstances surrounding the earlier reports:
“But how does someone living in Lagos Island be taken to Abuja hospital? Does her royal highness King Mitchy also have a private jet? Why wasn’t she taken to France or London instead?”

Meanwhile, @afroArt9 commented:
“This is what rubbish dirty clout is. All because of attention. Them gift una car una break the windshield. Now two clout chasers don drink hypo. Children are learning—this is what our society has turned into, rubbish.”

As reactions continue to pour in, many Nigerians are calling for transparency and urging influencers to be mindful of the emotional impact such sensitive announcements can have on the public.
