A story making waves online is raising eyebrows—and sympathy—across Nigeria. A woman in a neighbourhood shared a shocking situation involving a widow who, incredibly, has no idea where her late husband’s family is.
The late husband, identified as Stephen Roland Ekpobuma, reportedly passed away last Saturday. But it wasn’t until after his death that neighbours discovered the extent of the widow’s predicament: despite having three children with him, she apparently didn’t know a single relative of her husband.
According to the neighbours, the woman had tried before to meet his family, but every time she brought it up, the man would get upset. All she knew was that he was from Edo State beyond that, no hometown details, no introductions, nothing. Years together, three children, and still no connection to his family. For those around them, it was baffling.
Concerned, one neighbour took to social media to ask for help. She posted on TikTok and Facebook, hoping the story would reach anyone who might know Stephen’s relatives. In her words:
“This man passed away last Saturday. It was then we realised the wife did not know any of his family. Everyone was asking, how can someone live with a man for years, have three kids, and not know a single relative? She tried asking before, but he would get angry. All she knew was that he said he was from Edo State. We believe in the power of social media. Maybe his family will see this and come forward. The woman is really suffering, and his body is still at the mortuary.”
The post has since gone viral, drawing attention not just for the unusual circumstances, but also for the struggle of the widow left trying to navigate loss and uncertainty alone.
It’s a story that leaves people asking questions how could someone live years with a partner without knowing his family? And more importantly, can social media help reunite this widow with the family she’s never met?
This one isn’t just news it’s a real-life mystery unfolding in real time.
