Gunmen have reportedly abducted a man identified as Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, who had previously praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to tackle insecurity in the country.

According to reports, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for his release.

A message currently circulating online claims that Aladesuyi and another farmer were taken by the attackers, while an appeal has been made to members of the public for financial assistance to help secure their freedom.

Abduction on farm in Ondo State

Sources say the incident occurred at a farm in Kajola settlement, within the Ilu-Abo community in Akure North Local Government Area.

Aladesuyi, who serves as the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and is also the Chief Executive Officer of JOTINA Farms, was reportedly working on his farm when the gunmen struck. The farm is said to be located about five kilometres from the Akure Airport area in Oba-Ile.

Witnesses said the attackers stormed the farm and fired gunshots sporadically before forcing Aladesuyi and another victim into a nearby forest.

However, the gunmen reportedly left behind Aladesuyi’s granddaughter, who was with him at the time, while they took the two men away into the bush.

Earlier post praising Tinubu

Before the incident, Aladesuyi had shared a post praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his reforms and efforts to address corruption and insecurity in Nigeria.

In the post, he wrote:

“Tinubu used decades to build a strong political structure and, after attaining power through it, instead of enriching himself or the structure, he began a series of major reforms — putting huge funds back into the public treasury, removing the ‘feeding bottles’ of petrol and FX subsidy merchants, cutting corruption pipelines in the NNPC, building massive infrastructure, collaborating with powerful nations to tackle internal insecurity, and combating the menace of food hoarders. What a selfless leader!”

Family appeals for help

Meanwhile, members of Aladesuyi’s family have appealed to the public for financial support to help raise the ransom demanded by the kidnappers and secure his release.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the persistent security challenges affecting farmers and rural communities in parts of Nigeria.
