The United States has struck and rendered inoperable one of Iran’s most significant infrastructure projects — the B1 bridge near Karaj, southwest of Tehran — marking a major escalation in the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran. President Donald Trump confirmed the attack, shared video footage of the destruction, and warned that additional military action could follow unless Iran agrees to terms to end the current hostilities.

Bridge Destruction After Trump’s Threats

President Trump announced that the bridge, described by Iranian media as the tallest in the Middle East, had been destroyed in airstrikes. He posted video of smoke rising from the collapsed structure and repeated his demand that Iran come to the negotiating table.

In his social media message, Trump said the bridge’s destruction was irreversible and signalled that more attacks could follow if Iran does not pursue a deal “before it is too late.”

What Happened at the Site

According to Iranian state media reports, the bridge — still under construction and known as the B1 — was hit in what officials described as two separate strikes. The first reportedly caused civilian casualties, and the second occurred while emergency personnel were still on site responding to the initial blast.

Local authorities in Iran’s Alborz province said multiple people were killed or wounded in the attack, though exact figures vary by source.

Iran’s Response

Iranian officials condemned the strike on the bridge and other civilian infrastructure, stating that hitting unfinished public structures will not force Iranians to surrender. Officials described the attack as a sign of “defeat and moral collapse” of the enemy, suggesting that such actions only strengthen national resolve.

Context of the Conflict

The bridge strike comes amid several weeks of escalating tensions following a joint U.S.–Israeli military offensive. Trump has previously warned that Iran could be “brought back to the Stone Ages” if it did not comply with U.S. demands, a statement that has drawn widespread international concern.

This latest development targeting major infrastructure represents a notable intensification of the conflict and has raised questions about the potential for further attacks on civilian and economic assets in Iran.
