Concerns have arisen over Nigeria’s political future following warnings from Primate Elijah Ayodele, who claimed that the United States may take action against certain African leaders.

In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele suggested that former U.S. President Donald Trump could move against some African presidents, including Nigeria’s own Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ayodele raises concerns about U.S. stance on Tinubu

According to the cleric, the United States is not currently acting in support of Tinubu’s administration. He warned that the relationship between American leadership and Nigeria may not be as favourable as some expect.

“No matter what Tinubu is doing now, Trump will come around against him. America isn’t coming to help you but to remove you,” Ayodele said.

Call for vigilance over security threats

The religious leader also urged Nigerians to stay alert, particularly in several key regions. He advised authorities and citizens to closely monitor academic institutions and security agencies.

The areas highlighted include Abuja, Lokoja, Benue State, Kogi State, Edo State, Ogun State, Katsina State, Adamawa State, Kano State, and Sokoto State, citing possible security threats in these regions.

Warning of potential attacks

Ayodele stressed the importance of proactive leadership within Nigeria’s military and security agencies. He warned that the government must take security concerns seriously, cautioning:

“Nigerian government must not sleep on this security matter… There will still be political assassinations and attacks.”

The statement has fueled discussions around both Nigeria’s internal security and its diplomatic relations with the United States.
