A Nigerian woman has sparked intense reactions online after openly sharing her personal rule about money during the early stages of dating.

In a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, she explained that she does not believe in continuing conversations with a man who fails to spend on her within the first few days of talking.

According to her, early financial gestures are a strong indication of seriousness and genuine interest.

“If you don’t send me money after three days of talking, I’m done,” she said. “I believe a man who doesn’t spend during the talking stage won’t spend in a relationship. How do you talk to a guy who has never given you ₦5,000?”

She clarified that, for her, the issue is not necessarily the amount but the intention behind it. In her view, a man’s reluctance to give even ₦5,000 suggests he may not be willing to invest emotionally or financially in the future.

The woman added that she sees early spending as a test of consistency and generosity, stressing that she would rather walk away quickly than continue engaging with someone she believes is not willing to show effort.

Her comments have since divided social media users. While some agreed that financial effort can reflect interest, others criticized what they described as entitlement.

One user asked, “So love is now subscription-based?” Another wrote, “₦5,000 is not the problem. The entitlement after three days is what’s scary.”
