A Nigerian man has shared how a simple test of his wife’s love led to the shocking end of their five-year marriage.
According to him, despite earning ₦500,000 monthly, he barely managed to save ₦100,000 because almost all his income went toward supporting his wife. Over the years, he had sponsored her education all the way to a Master’s degree, helping her grow from just O-Level results at the time of their marriage.
The Prank Test
Over time, he began questioning whether she truly loved him as much as he loved her. One day, he decided to test her. He created fake medical results complete with a hospital stamp and presented them to his wife, claiming he had kidney problems.
Her reaction was immediate and intense. She panicked and shouted:
“You have destroyed your life! I used to warn you about the pain relief drugs you take!”
He explained that he sometimes took painkillers to cope with work stress and long commutes. She continued, scolding him and insisting he seek treatment abroad, even calling his relatives to inform them of the supposed kidney damage.
The Kidney Request
Then came the moment he says truly tested her love. Kneeling before her, he asked:
“You were right about the warnings, but now I need a kidney donor. Please donate one of your kidneys to me.”
Her response shocked him further:
“Me ke??? What about your mother? Your father? Your siblings?”
He reminded her that doctors had attributed their childlessness to her, yet he had supported her fully for five years. He begged again, but she refused, insisting that kidney donation and infertility were different matters and telling him to contact his family. His relatives, however, stepped in—his mother offered a kidney, and even his father offered one so he could have two functional kidneys.
The Truth Revealed
It was then that he revealed the truth: he was not sick; it had all been a prank. His wife reportedly laughed and claimed she had known and was only pretending.
Despite this, he said he no longer trusted her. He concluded that after five years of support, medical care, and patience over their childlessness, her refusal to help him in a critical moment proved she did not truly love him.
He asked her to leave, filed for divorce, and remained firm despite attempts by others to intervene. She has moved out, and the divorce process is set to begin next month.
