A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing her experience with money her partner sent her for groceries.
The woman, identified as @justmercy on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that her partner, who works in Ghana, sent her ₦3 million to purchase food items and other household essentials.
According to her, she used the money to buy a wide range of groceries and important home supplies. After completing the shopping, she took photos of all the items and sent them to him to show how the money was spent.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when her partner became upset after seeing the items and questioned how the entire amount was used.

In her words:
“When I got home, I took pictures of everything and sent them to him, showing what the money could buy. I even added some of my own money to get a few extra things. I tried explaining that food prices in Nigeria have gone up significantly, but he refused to believe me and is now asking for a refund.”
The post, which has attracted over 300,000 views, quickly generated mixed reactions from users on the platform.
Some supported her claim, pointing to the rising cost of food items in Nigeria, while others expressed doubt about how ₦3 million was spent.
One user wrote, “She might be right—prices of groceries are really high now.”
Another questioned the amount, saying, “Are you sure it was ₦3 million and not ₦300,000?”
Others speculated that the story might be exaggerated, while a few simply reacted with humor.
The incident has since sparked broader conversations about the rising cost of living and transparency in relationships when it comes to finances.
