Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Warns Nigeria Could Be Affected by Middle East Crisis
Former Special Adviser to Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has cautioned that Nigeria may not be insulated from the escalating crisis in the Middle East. His comments come amid reports of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, which allegedly killed top Iranian leaders and senior officials.
Speaking on Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the attacks could have far-reaching implications well beyond the region.
“Nigeria too is in trouble. We are not safe with what is going on in Iran,” he said.
He explained that the strikes have already reshaped global political calculations and could trigger instability across multiple continents.
“Two days ago, the United States and Israel attacked Iran, killing its leader and several senior political and military officers, as well as other citizens. This appears to be an attempt at regime change,” Baba-Ahmed noted.
He added that such interventions rarely unfold as planned:
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as neatly as leaders like President Donald Trump think. What we are likely to see is chaos, a prolonged crisis within Iran and around it, and widespread global uproar.”
Baba-Ahmed warned that instability in the Middle East could disrupt global markets, heighten security threats, and deepen political divisions worldwide. He urged Nigerian authorities to monitor developments closely and prepare for potential economic and security repercussions.
