A Nigerian man has sparked debate on social media after expressing disappointment over the food his children allegedly brought home from their school’s graduation party despite paying ₦12,000 for the celebration.
According to the man, the amount covered the graduation party fees for his two children. However, he said he was left shocked by what they returned home with after the event.
Sharing his frustration online, he claimed the children came back with only two plates of rice, a very small portion of meat, and no drinks or souvenirs.
Questioning whether the fee was justified, the father suggested that the food provided did not reflect the amount parents were asked to pay.
Reacting to what he received, he said:
“This meat no even reach ₦100.”
He added that he had expected a more worthwhile experience for the children, especially considering what he described as a substantial payment for the graduation celebration.
The video quickly gained traction online, with many parents joining the conversation to share their opinions.
While some sympathised with the father’s disappointment, arguing that the meal fell far short of expectations, others pointed out that graduation party fees often cover more than just food, including venue decoration, entertainment, photography, logistics, certificates, and other event-related expenses.
The incident has since reignited discussions about the rising cost of school graduation ceremonies, with many parents calling for greater transparency from schools on how graduation fees are calculated and spent.
