A Nigerian lady has shared the devastating story of how her uncle and one of his sons allegedly lost their lives at the hands of bandits after they were kidnapped while travelling to Lagos.
In a post shared on X, the woman, identified as @oreofe-06, recounted the tragic incident, revealing that her uncle was abducted alongside his two sons during the journey.
According to her, the kidnappers demanded an ₦11 million ransom, which the family managed to pay in the hope of securing their safe release.
Sadly, despite meeting the ransom demand, tragedy struck while the victims were still being held captive.
She explained that her uncle became thirsty and asked the kidnappers for water. Instead of granting his request, one of the bandits allegedly questioned him before suddenly shooting him in the head in the presence of his two sons.
Recounting the horrifying moment, she wrote:
“One of the bandits immediately shot him in the head in front of his two sons. They then forced the boys to carry their father’s lifeless body through the forest.”
According to her, the nightmare did not end there. One of her cousins was also killed, while the other eventually regained his freedom.
She added that the bodies of her uncle and the deceased son were never recovered and, according to her account, remained with the kidnappers.
Reflecting on the lasting impact of the tragedy, she said:
“The tragedy shattered our family, and my uncle’s wife has never truly recovered from the trauma. Some wounds never heal; they simply become a part of those left behind. May God grant them eternal rest and continue to comfort everyone they left behind. May Nigeria never happen to you.”
Her emotional account has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the grieving family while renewing calls for stronger action to address the country’s persistent insecurity.
