Uche Ogbodo has responded to critics who accused her of promoting Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures following the reported death of a woman linked to a botched surgery in Lagos.
Reports earlier emerged that a woman identified as Elena Jessica allegedly lost her life after developing complications from a BBL procedure at Cynosure Clinic. The socialite and influencer was said to have experienced severe complications after undergoing a second butt lift surgery.
Reacting to the backlash on social media, Ogbodo addressed those blaming her for allegedly promoting the procedure despite the tragic incident.
According to the actress, while BBL carries risks, it is not the only medical procedure that can result in complications.
“People are dragging me, saying I am promoting BBL even though a lady just lost her life because of it,” she said.
“Yes, BBL is risky, but which surgery isn’t? People die from fibroid surgeries, C-sections, and even complications related to headaches.”
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users supporting her stance while others insist influencers should be more cautious about promoting cosmetic procedures.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress explained that she has been receiving heavy backlash from people who believe celebrities encouraging cosmetic surgery might influence others negatively.
However, Ogbodo maintained that while cosmetic procedures carry risks, anyone considering them must be properly informed and seek professional medical care.
“Just make sure you are well-informed about the surgery you want. Use a good hospital and a good doctor. Make sure you don’t allow infection to enter your wound, and take your aftercare seriously,” she advised.
The actress, who underwent cosmetic surgery herself last year, has been a vocal advocate for women taking care of themselves, even after childbirth. She emphasised that motherhood should not come at the expense of a woman’s identity or personal confidence.
