Former Niger Delta militant leader General Asabuja has sparked controversy online after criticizing some prominent entertainers and businessmen for their public support of Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigeria’s president.

In a video circulating on social media, Asabuja questioned Seyi Tinubu’s official role, pointing out that he holds no elected or constitutional position. He also singled out nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest and businessman Obi Cubana, criticizing them for publicly welcoming and associating with the president’s son during recent engagements.

Asabuja went on to highlight activist Omoyele Sowore, who has been protesting in Abia State over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, contrasting Sowore’s activism with the celebratory treatment Seyi Tinubu received.

He also condemned entertainers’ involvement in political matters while questioning Nigeria’s state of infrastructure and electricity supply.

In his words:

“What position does Seyi Tinubu hold? Is he Speaker? Is he Senator? No—his father is President. Look at Cubana Chief Priest and Obi Cubana—shame on you. God forbid. Is this how you use your money? Betrayers like you? Chief Priest, you with your borrow-borrow, balloon life—I’m ashamed of you.

Sowore is in Abia State protesting for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. We’re not even talking about Biafra—just for Kanu. And here you are, busy welcoming the president’s son who holds no position. City Boy is his position? Roads don’t exist, electricity is scarce—American City Boy? German City Boy? Work with solar at Aso Rock, work with solar at the Villa.

Chief Priest and Obi Cubana, your foolishness has gone too far. Today you’re entertainment, today you’re politics, today you’re toilet. That’s why I respect Niger Delta people. We don’t live this fake life. When a Niger Delta man supports you, he means it.”

The video has since sparked heated discussions online about celebrity involvement in politics, the role of family ties in public perception, and accountability in governance.
