
The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebrations.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion, urging citizens to reflect on the virtues associated with the season.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior congratulates all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter. He urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ,” the statement read.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and tolerance, reminding Nigerians of the values that bind the nation together. The minister reiterated that the government remains committed to decisions that promote national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity, while wishing all Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
April 3 marks Good Friday, and April 6 will be observed as Easter Monday.
