President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a surprise visit to Jos to console families affected by the recent Palm Sunday attack, which claimed the lives of over 40 residents in the Anguwan Rukuba area. The visit comes amid rising concerns about insecurity in Nigeria and the urgent need for lasting measures to protect communities.
During the visit, President Tinubu met with survivors and grieving families, including Favour Rhoda, whose emotional video holding her late son went viral online. Addressing the victims, he said:

“You have no light at the airport, and I have to fly back within the next ten minutes. To the victims, there is nothing I can give you, whether money in millions, but to console you. I take, for example, Rhoda, I know the pain. I saw in the video how you held on to Ayuba, and the pain and agony in your heart, but it is only God who can give you joy and comfort.”
The President acknowledged the deep emotional toll on the victims’ families, emphasizing that no financial compensation could truly make up for the lives lost. However, he assured Nigerians that steps would be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future:
“No amount of money can pay all of you back, but I promise that this experience will not repeat itself.”

The visit underscores the growing urgency for the government to address security challenges across the nation, as citizens continue to demand effective protection for their lives and property.
The President’s visit, though brief, brought a message of hope and a commitment to action, highlighting the delicate balance between mourning the loss and restoring confidence in public safety.
“You have no light at the airport, and I have to fly back within the next 10 minutes… To the victims, there’s nothing I can give you but promise you this experience will not repeat itself.”
