Founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has sparked fresh conversations after calling on Christians to take responsibility for their safety amid growing insecurity in parts of Nigeria.

Speaking during a recent sermon, the cleric expressed deep concern over the increasing reports of attacks on churches, worshippers, and Christian communities, particularly in the northern region. He warned that the situation demands urgent attention and decisive action.

According to him, relying solely on government protection may no longer be sufficient, urging believers to remain alert and prepared to defend themselves if necessary.

“Killings of Christians must stop in Nigeria. Christians need to wake up… If the government cannot defend you, defend yourself. Get yourself a walking stick,” he said.

He pointed to Israel as an example of a nation that has survived despite constant threats, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and readiness in the face of danger.

His remarks reflect growing frustration among religious leaders and citizens who believe more needs to be done to tackle insecurity and protect lives. The statement has since triggered debates online, with some supporting his stance on self-defense, while others warn against escalation and call for stronger government intervention instead.

“K!’||!ng of Christians must stop in Nigeria. Christian need to wake up. Israel is a small nation and they didn’t allow Arabs to wipe them out. If Government can’t defend you, defend yourself. Get yourself a walking stick.” 😂
