A Nigerian graduate has sparked emotional reactions online after sharing how what should have been a celebratory day turned into a deeply painful memory.
In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she appeared in her convocation attire while recounting how her long-term relationship unexpectedly ended on the same day she completed her studies.
According to her, she had been in a relationship for seven years, expecting the day to mark both academic success and shared joy with her partner.
Instead, she revealed that she received a breakup message on the morning of her convocation.
“Someone I’ve known for 7 years decided to end things on my convocation day,” she said, visibly emotional.
She admitted the timing left her confused and overwhelmed, as she struggled to balance her achievement with the emotional shock of the breakup.
Despite everything, she noted that she chose not to let the experience overshadow her accomplishment, reminding herself that the day still represented years of effort and personal growth.
