United States lawmaker Riley M. Moore has expressed deep concern following the recent violent attack in Kebbi State, Nigeria, where 25 schoolgirls were abducted and the school’s vice principal was killed.
Moore reacted on X (formerly Twitter), urging prayers for the victims and calling for stronger action against the rising insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
In his post, he wrote:
“Please join me in praying for the 25 girls who have been kidnapped and for the repose of the soul of their vice principal who was killed.”
Moore specifically noted the reported location of the attack:
“While we don’t have all the details on this horrific attack, we know that the attack occurred in a Christian enclave in Northern Nigeria.”
He concluded by demanding greater commitment from the Nigerian government:
“The Nigerian government must do more to end the rampant violence.”
The incident occurred early Monday when gunmen invaded Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town.
Police confirmed that Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku was shot dead while trying to resist the attackers, and another staff member sustained injuries.
Tactical police units, soldiers, and local vigilantes have since been deployed to search nearby forest routes for the abducted students. The Northwest region continues to face persistent school kidnappings for ransom.
