A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after recounting how he mistakenly transferred ₦2 million instead of ₦200,000 — and the surprising honesty of the recipient.
The man, identified as @EducatedTug01 on X (formerly Twitter), explained that the incident happened during a giveaway he was running on the platform.
According to him, he initially had no idea he had made such a huge error until the recipient reached out to him directly.
Rather than keeping quiet or taking advantage of the situation, the receiver reportedly contacted him to report the mistake and proceeded to return the full amount.
“I sent him my account details, and he refunded the money,” he said.
Moved by the unexpected honesty, the man decided to reward the individual with ₦200,000 as a gesture of appreciation.
“I told him to keep an extra 200k… some people are still genuinely good,” he added.
The story has since gone viral, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and expressing surprise at the man’s initial claim that he didn’t notice the ₦2 million debit from his account.
While some praised the receiver’s integrity, others questioned how such a large amount could leave an account unnoticed.
The incident has once again sparked conversations about trust, honesty, and human behaviour in everyday financial dealings.
