“I got it wrong” — VeryDarkMan apologises to Omoyele Sowore over financial claims

Controversial social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly apologised to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore following a recent online clash.

The apology comes after his earlier video where he questioned Sowore’s financial capacity, particularly how he funds his child’s education — a comment that quickly gained traction and stirred debate online.

In a fresh video, VeryDarkMan admitted he acted on incomplete information and acknowledged that his assumptions were misplaced.

“I was wrong… I shouldn’t have made that video,” he said, taking responsibility for the remarks.

He explained that after looking into publicly available information, including claims about revenue generated by Sahara Reporters and estimates of Sowore’s net worth, he realised his earlier conclusions were inaccurate.

According to him, the situation escalated unnecessarily and could have been avoided.

VeryDarkMan also extended his apology beyond Sowore, addressing his followers and supporters, stating that he believes in owning up to mistakes when proven wrong.

“If I’m wrong, I’ll say I’m wrong,” he added.

The apology has since sparked reactions online, with many users commending the move as a rare display of accountability in Nigeria’s social media space, while others remain divided over the initial claims and the broader issue of public scrutiny.
