Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has set social media buzzing after sharing a humorous yet surprisingly thought-provoking opinion on why many modern marriages struggle to stand the test of time.

In a viral clip making the rounds online, the Mavin boss used something unexpected—wedding cake—to break down his theory.

According to him, marriages in the past seemed more durable, just like the traditional fruit cakes couples used back then. He explained that those cakes were often preserved for months, sometimes even a year, before being eaten again during anniversaries—symbolizing patience, endurance, and longevity.

But in today’s world, things have changed.

Don Jazzy pointed out that modern weddings now feature butter and ice cream cakes, which don’t last long at all. In his words, that short shelf life might just reflect how relationships today are built—quick, sweet, but not always enduring.

He didn’t stop there.

The producer also highlighted how many wedding cakes today are more about appearance than substance, with some being largely decorative rather than fully edible. He joked that couples now cut just a small portion, while the rest of the cake is mainly for show.

While clearly delivered with humor, his analogy has sparked deeper conversations online, with many agreeing that modern relationships often lack the patience and resilience seen in previous generations—while others simply enjoyed the creativity of his comparison.
