Nigerian comedian Aloma Isaac Junior, widely known as Zicsaloma, has opened up about what he considers his biggest financial blunder: purchasing a luxury Range Rover Sport.
The comedian shared the story during a recent episode of Drink or Spill, an interview series hosted by Pulse Nigeria.
When asked about money-related mistakes he now looks back on humorously, Zicsaloma recounted his experience with the high-end vehicle. He revealed that he bought the Range Rover Sport for over ₦30 million, attracted by the prestige and comfort associated with luxury cars in Nigeria.
However, his enjoyment was short-lived as the car soon developed persistent mechanical issues, requiring extensive and costly repairs. Zicsaloma said he spent roughly ₦10 million fixing the vehicle within just three to four months, yet the problems kept recurring.
Frustrated, he eventually decided to sell the car at a steep loss, parting with it for only ₦11 million. This meant his total financial setback, combining the purchase price and repair costs, amounted to nearly ₦29 million.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Zicsaloma stated:
“I think it’s buying a Range Rover Sport. That was one of my worst financial mistakes. I bought the car for over 30 million and sold it for 11 million within 3 or 4 months. On top of that, I spent about 10 million fixing it.”
He added that the whole experience was extremely stressful and costly:
“It’s just like I threw 30 million and got back 1 million, with a lot of stress.”
Zicsaloma concluded by noting that the money could have been better spent investing in a business or venture that would have yielded substantial returns.
“Buying a Range Rover Sport is my worst financial mistake.”
